The Allocation Workbench
The Allocation Workbench helps you allocate members to unallocated duties . It brings
together the allocation duty roster and those members who are available for allocation
taking into account their preferred duty dates, availability and, when applicable,
optimum duty types.
Walkthrough:
-
Open DutyMan and log in as an administrator.
-
In the Allocation menu click Allocation Workbench.
-
Select an event from the calendar in the left-hand
panel.
-
Select an unallocated duty from the centre panel. DutyMan populates the four shortlists
in the right-hand panel with appropriate candidates for the duty.
How the shortlists are compiled.
Hint: consider allocating all key duties first then fill in the remainder.
-
Select a person from one of the shortlists, or click Best Fit to allocate
a randomly chosen person. The person is chosen from those with the lowest ratio
of allocated duties to required duties in the first non‑empty shortlist.
-
Click Clear if you need to de-allocate the currently selected duty.
-
Continue until all duties have been allocated.
Summary Table
The summary table, bottom right on the Allocation Workbench page, provides an analysis
of the number of duties allocated and also acts as a key to the colour-coding of
duties in the centre panel.
Pre-allocated means allocated by the duty co-ordinator
Self-Allocated means allocated by a member when using the First Come, First
Served allocation strategy
Post-allocated means allocated using the Allocation Workbench.
