Optimum Duty Types

Optimum Duty Types are a means of managing and controlling how duties are allocated to people. Their objective is to help allocate the best possible person to each duty.

An Optimum Duty Type can optionally be assigned to each member (see Uploading Members and Maintaining the Members List). They are used by DutyMan itself only during duty allocation. They can also be helpful when assigning duties manually.

When used by DutyMan during duty allocation, Optimum Duty Types have an effect in two places – when members are selecting their own duties, and while the duty coordinator is assigning members to unallocated duties.

When Members Select Their Duties

Optionally you can force members, to whom Optimum Duty Types (ODT) have been assigned, to select only their ODTs. Members without optimum duty types can always select any duty. How to set this option

Example

You have an Instructor duty type and a limited number of people who are qualified to be instructors. You want to ensure that your qualified instructors select only Instructor duties.

Method

Set all your qualified instructors' ODTs to Instructor
Enforce Optimum Duty Type Selection
Your qualified instructors can only select Instructor duties during duty allocation

While Assigning Members to Unallocated Duties

When ODTs have been assigned to members they can help to allocate the most appropriate person to each duty. See The Allocation Workbench for how.
